Random Thoughts From the Front Porch
Save Your 2025 Calendar
You will be able to re-use it in the following years: 2031, 2042, 2053, 2059, 2070, 2081, 2087, 2098, 2110, and 2121. And longer if necessary.
If you have a 2014 calendar on file, you can use it this year. Or maybe you have calendars from some of these years: 1902, 1913, 1919, 1930, 1941, 1947, 1958, 1969, 1975, 1986, 1997, 2003. They will work for 2025 as well.
I knew I should have saved that 1969 calendar. A penny saved is a penny earned.
Predictions for 2025
I predict 2025 will only have 365 days.
I predict the weather will change from time to time, no matter where you are. But the climate will not change much this year, no matter where you are.
I predict that inflation will be higher this year than the government tells us.
I predict that gas stations across the street from each other will have the same prices, even though collusion is illegal.
I predict the U.S. government will spend more money than it takes in.
I predict that solar and wind power will not generate enough electricity to power the U.S. grid, no matter how much the government has subsidized it.
I predict you will see some things in 2025 you never thought you would ever see. Let me know when you do and I’ll do the same. I wish I had kept track of all the things I saw in 2024 that I thought I’d never see.
Have you noticed…
It’s taking longer to get an appointment with your doctor.
It’s taking longer to get procedures and surgery scheduled at hospitals.
Too many hospitals are closing across the country.
How’s the Diet Going?
A lot of people resolve to loose weight, beginning right after the holiday banquets. Persevere! You can do it.
One of my first postings from the front porch, two months ago, I announced it was diet time for me. You can read it here.
I told you in that post I’d let you know how it is going.
Normally, in recent years, I would have quit by now, but so far in two months I have lost 10.4326 kilograms. I’m thrilled. I’m down a pants size and I’ll either have to buy new belts or get a hole punch for leather.
If I can chisel off another 4.536 kilograms, I’ll be thrilled.
Ok, Ok. I’ve lost 23 pounds and would be thrilled to lose another 10.
I feel a lot better. I’ve regained some lost energy. I don’t think I’ve had one donut and my sugar intake has been massively reduced. I credit that with the fact that I now have a lot less aches and pains.
Actually I’m down 34 pounds (15.442 kilograms) from the highest I weighed at a doctor’s office last summer.
Keep me in your prayers as I go through this challenging weight reduction process.
What am I doing to loose weight?
Thanks for asking.
I’m, counting calories and trying to keep my daily consumption under 1,500 calories or less than 500 per meal. I’m eating a lot more salads, broccoli and collard greens (I’m in the south for a few months). I’m eating a lot less fried foods and sugars. I’m not snacking.
We are not eating out much. It’s a fun challenge to make a satisfying meal with less calories.
Also, another key component I think is that my wife and I are dieting together. She has had similar success, as well.
Thanks for reading. Your comments will make this post much better.
Or, you can just buy me a cup of coffee here. Coffee and a rocking chair on the front porch conjures up a lot of thoughts.
Yes, back on the better eating train for me…Monday😁
Thanks for the insight Charles. Congrats on the weight loss. I hope inflation goes down in 2025 but your forecast may be accurate.
