I ask:
Is it still “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all?”
Or, is it “one nation under government, divided with factions and restricted liberties and a two-tiered justice system?”
If you read The Morning Edition by Mike Huckabee, you probably would wonder, as I did, how did we get to this place in America.
Bypassing the persecution, called prosecution, of a former president that Huckabee reports first, his second article leaves me bewildered as to how anyone can think our government should be acting like the brutal German gestapo prior to and during World War II.
His article is entitled, CONFIRMED: ATF agents who killed Bryan Malinkowski weren’t wearing body cams.
Malinkowski, 53, was shot in the head by ATF agents as they sought to excecute a search warrant of Malinkowski’s home. The agents were surprising the Malinkowski’s with the pre-dawn raid. Malinkowski heard a crash as the agents broke down their front door. They got out of their bed to be confronted in a dark hallway by men wearing black. Malinkowksi had a pistol he kept by his bed and fired a warning shot. The ATF agents shot him twice in the head, with his wife, standing nearby. He died.
Malinkowki would be considered a public official. He was the top executive at Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas. The ATF was accusing him of selling firearms without a license, which he was, but not as his primary business, but as a side job or hobby. He may have been guilty of the ATF’s charge. A couple of guns he sold were found to have been used in crimes.
Huckabee correctly points out that the search warrant could have been served in a much less violent way. They could have waited until Malinkowski came out of his house and served him in his driveway. Or they could have gone to his office at the airport and presented it to him and accompanied him to his home.
That whole scenario would be bad enough, but the fact that none of the ATF agents were using a body cam, after a 2022 directive that all search warrant services were to be recorded by agents’ body cams, leaves one begging the question, “What’s going on in America?”
That clearly is willful disobedience of a direct order on the part of the agents, and a more strong inditement of their supervisors.
We should expect this to be thoroughly, and independently investigated and the violators of orders to be held accountable and justly punished.
Ronald Reagan said, “When we cease being on nation under God, we will be one nation gone under.”
weve lost the mandate of heaven thats for sure.
