I have given up on all of the televised awards shows because of their usual left-wing bent and the venting of anti-God attitudes, so I missed the recent Country Music Association awards program.
But when my wife pointed out this video, I saw that church broken out in that auditorium that night and it brought the crowd it its feet and tears to its eyes.
God was working on hearts there. They heard there has to be more to life than what the world is giving them.
Thank you, Brooks and Dunn and Jelly Roll for your performance ministry.
For some time, I had been pondering a post on the red letter words in the Bible. This kicked me in gear.
I’ve found when I need a faith pick-me-up, a sure way is to turn to the red letters in the Bible. Oh, lots of Bibles these days don’t have red letter words. It saves a little money for the publishers to print everything in one color. The red ink really doesn’t change the truth of Jesus’ words, it just make them easier to find, easier to separate from the words of the writer of the books.
Sure, even the words of the writers were inspired by God, but the actual words of Jesus, as heard in person by these witnesses, are special. They hold the truth of Jesus’ work here on earth.
The red letters are found in the four gospels, Matthew, Luke, Mark and John. The first four books of the New Testament.
There are over 65,000 words in those four books, and 31,426 or 48 percent of them are printed in red letters.
The first red lettered words are found in Matthew 3:15 when Jesus replied to John the Baptist, whom he had asked for baptism: “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” (Substack has no option to make letters red.)
In the the fourth chapter of Matthew, Jesus’ answers to the temptations of Satan are printed in red. They are guides for how we should respond to temptations of life.
Jesus’ parables are written in red. They are also important lessons for us.
His commandments are red lettered instructions.
In Mark 16:15-16 he says to his disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Luke reports many parables Jesus spoke and also relays Jesus’ words from the cross, as does John.
In John 13:34-36 he tells us how we will be known as his disciples: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John, in Chapter 14, provides in Jesus’ own words his promises to us, our home he is preparing in Heaven for us and that he will send us a comforter, the Holy Spirit.
If you read nothing else in the Bible, the words in the red letters will give you a great understanding of the hope that is in Jesus.
NOTE: A large selection of red letter Bibles are available from Amazon, if you don’t already have one.
Thanks for reading. Your comments and suggestions will make this post a lot more interesting.

The Bible version I use (YouVersion, KJV) also has red letters. Nice having the Word as close your phone.
'When you walk thru a storm, hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm, there's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark'
